Learning Through Community: The SFU Learning Garden

In partnership with Vancouver Kindess Movement, as a part of our commitment to sustainability and community-based action, we are contributing to a project based at the SFU Learning Garden, a space owned and operated by the university that supports food literacy, ecological awareness, and social connection.

While we are not leading or launching the garden, we are actively engaged in hands-on work within it to explore how shared spaces can cultivate community-led solutions to environmental and social challenges.

Our involvement in the garden is a platform to:

  • Reflect on the power of grassroots, regenerative practices in food systems

  • Promote SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

  • Support learning by doing, connecting theory with lived community experience

  • Advocate for regenerative farming, circular design, and localized sustainability practices

This work is part of a broader effort to highlight how university-based spaces, when shaped by community, can inspire meaningful, bottom-up climate action and sustainable development.
